An electronic device that takes a digital numerical value as input, and yields a voltage signal at the output proportional in strength to the value of the input. D/A converters are used in digital audio and video technology, in which audio or video information stored in digital form (as on tape or a disk) is converted to electrical voltage signals for amplification or display on a screen.
